I first heard of N S E W (North, South, East, West) a few years ago when my old roommate, Angella, was explaining to someone the story behind the magnolia flower tattoo on her  left biceps (yes, there is an s in biceps, even for the singular, as I just discovered). She said that she’d been a fan of the artist Jessica Williams‘ illustrations, whom she’d found via the magic of blogging, so she asked her to draw her a magnolia flower for her arm. And then she did, and it looks great. Anyhow,
N S E W is a collaborative project between Williams, Camilla Skibrek, and Espen Friberg, founded in Brooklyn in 2011 with the goal of making great ideas and imagery into affordable quality objects. They now publish postcards, zines, and other unique items out of Oslo, Norway. As an avid pen pal and general aesthetic enthusiast, I’m really into their artist postcards–featuring work by Mylinh Trieu Nguyen, Jaakko Pallasvuo, Vanessa Samp, Mylinh Trieu Nguyen, Ye Rin Mok, Caley Feeney, Pia Howell, and more. Check em out and maybe pick out a few for Xmas gifts, or maybe as a New Year’s-resolution incentive to become a better pen pal. Your pals/the USPS will really appreciate it.
