NEW YEARS TIME CAPSULES

Posted BY JORDAN ON December 27th, 2012

Hey everyone! Hope the holidays have been as great as they possibly could be! I just caught this great piece in the New Yorker this morning and it really struck a chord, after having visited with my Great Aunt Jane this Christmas weekend. We looked through her parents’–my great grandparent’s–photo album (my Great-Grandma Clarice is pictured above, holding baby Jane), and it was wild to be transported to such a different time and place. Turn of the century business. She told me stories about my Great-great Grandma Burtie who once unknowingly took in a refugee Billy the Kid, and my uncle remembered working with James Dean in the UCLA film department, repairing damaged slides. These are the best time capsules of life, and it’s good to share these kind of stories once and a while–especially before the changing of another year. I hope you check out the NY Times piece, remember some of your own, and enjoy!
