ALMOST-FALL CAMPINGPosted BY JENNY JAMES ON August 20th, 2013
It’s summer in Portland, and sunny days will continue through October at least. But there’s something in the air, something crisp and decidedly fall-like. This is the time to go camping. Whiskey at night under the stars, coffee in the morning under a clean blue sky, and a brisk swim during the hot afternoon hours when the sun still has a little burn to it. What could be better?
I would love to say that I’m a light packer, but when it comes to camping I typically over do it. Sleeping pads. Wool blankets. Extra sweaters. Hiking boots. The list goes on. I absolutely love cooking outdoors, so the dutch oven and cutting board and spices and cast iron skillet must come too. Then there’s the groceries. Shopping for a camping trip is one of the most exciting parts of the process!
Clearly, I am a car camper. But here are a few vintage LL Bean bags, packs and beauties to consider for your next camping trip- whether you hike in with the bare minimum or pull up in your car with everything you own.
