Hey guys, PICA’s Time Based Art Festival starts tomorrow! Here are a few of the shows we are particularly excited about. Make sure to check out the TBA website to read about all the other great performances you shouldn’t miss.

Julie Ruin tomorrow at the opening night party- a band started by Katheen Hanna of Bikini Kill and Le Tigre, backed up by Portland’s own Rock Camp for Girls and School of Rock.

-Saturday night we wouldn’t dream of missing a screening of Paris is Burning at the Whitsell Auditorium.

-On Sunday the 15th, The Blow will be performing WE PUT IT TOGETHER SO WE COULD TAKE IT APART. This should be excellent.

-Can’t wait to see Kim Gordon and Bill Nace as Body/Head on Thursday the 19th.

Lucy Raven and Rebecca Gates‘ sound installation/performance Room Tone: Variation should not be missed. We are proud to report that Frances May VIP Kent Richardson worked with the artists to help build the instillation and sound equipment for this show, and it sounds (pun intended) awesome.

-We all know how obsessed with Astrology our girl Ashley is. For this reason, among others, we are curious about Emily Roysdon’s residency project. The project centers around a sundial she created (with a little help from- you guessed it- Kent), and includes daily conversations about time with a variety of specialists- including Rhea Wolf, astrologer. This we must see.

This is the tip of the iceberg, you guys.  Get after it.
