MM6-4

This MM6 collection was so fresh and light it seemed like the clothes could have just floated off of the models. It was a gorgeous mix of subdued earth tones with hints of print and bold color accents. Embued in these pieces is the freedom of movement and with that the space to be you. […]

ARIELLE DE PINTO GETS WILD

Posted BY FRANCES MAY ON February 15th, 2012

It is incredible what Arielle De Pinto has done with her hand crocheted chains. Her Fall collection features a continuation of crocheted stacked platforms in collaboration with LVMM (the gold wedges OMG). Her choice of styling was a bit overwhelming, however the pieces themselves are gorgeous! It just goes to show that Arielle’s work can […]

Patrik Ervell’s Fall collection finds its inspiration from policeuniforms. Ribbed wool sweaters, quilted nylon, and trench coats all find theirplace alongside stunning hand painted silk dresses. The latter pieces serve asa metaphor for the moments of protest that emerges through the cracks. The collectionis a beautiful juxtaposition of hard lines and soft edges.   By Lahaina […]

ROBERT GELLER TAKES IT BACK

Posted BY FRANCES MAY ON February 13th, 2012
RG10

Robert Geller’s collection was inspired by classic Englishstyle. His silhouettes definitely reflected that in the cape-ish overcoats, multi piece suiting, and pantaloon type trousers.  This look might be a bit much all together, but taken apartthis collection is very wearable. I loved how he used borderline neon colors to modernize his English theme. By some sort of fashion universe magic, I got into AlexanderWang! It was a dramatic showcase of his expansive Fall collection. Words like “peroxide smocked, ion laminated, and lacquered” are inked all over the materialdescriptions of his pieces which were very tailored and almost militaristictype of suiting, mixed with form fitting draped knits.  The surprise […]

WT-Look3

It was nice to see that WHiT’s fall collection had so muchcolor! She mixed it up with lots of patterns, metallic jacquards, and gemtones. Her inspiration was campy Sci-fi Films and pre moon landing pop culture. This definitely came through in her 1950’s reminiscent silhouettes and styling. By Lahaina Alcantara

Katie Gallagher’s collection entitled “Silent Soil” wasinspired by the idea of bringing the atmosphere and aura of the forest into thecityscape. Her looks were composed of layers of organic and gauzy shapes withtailored overtures. The mood of the presentation was more of the mysteriousdepths of the forest than it’s lighter counterpart.
